Riding versus Writing

I’ve not been posting as much in the past few weeks.  The title of the post says it all, I’ve been riding more and writing less.  The photo above is 6:00 AM sunrise on the road from Pensacola Beach to Navarre Beach, going through the National Seashore.  The photo is about mile 13 on my ride each morning, during our recent family vacation.

Two years ago, Ed Hine and I took a cycling tour to Colorado, Utah, and Arizona.  I used the trip as motivation for recovery from my surgery for prostate cancer.  I give my preparation for that ride  much of the credit for how well I’ve done post-surgery.

We had such a good time, we’ve planned another trip – this time from Saratoga Springs, NY to Montreal, Canada.  Six other people from Rome will go with us, including Jeff and Tamara Smathers, along with Joe and Cheryl Burch from FBC. This tour is 400  miles over 6 days.  We will be using the services of Lizardhead Cycling once again. They exceeded all expectations on the trip out West, so why change?  My goal is to ride at least 350 miles of the 400.  In order to be ready, I’m riding every opportunity I get.

You can read about the itinerary here.

When time for the trip arrives, I will write about our progress here on www.thesubstanceoffaith.com.
